The Lector is a minister of the reading of the Eucharist. The Lector is also responsible for reading the parish’s announcements and General Intercessions. Typically there are two Lectors per mass – one to read the first reading from the Old Testament, and the second to read the second reading from the New Testament. The second Lector would also be responsible for reading the General Intercessions. If there is no Cantor present during mass, the first Lector would also read the Responsorial Psalm.
